Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Italian sweet sausage
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 4 slices bread, crumbled
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup parsley
  • 20 jumbo shells, boiled and drained
  • 2 (15 1/2 oz.) jars spaghetti sauce
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Prick the sausage with a fork and cook in a small amount of water in a covered skillet for 5 minutes.
  3. Drain the sausage.
  4. Chop the sausage and fry along with chopped onion until brown and crumbly, stirring often.
  5. Spoon off excess fat.
  6. Add egg, crumbled bread, and parsley; mix thoroughly.
  7. Fill hot cooked shells with the sausage mixture.
  8. Pour half of the spaghetti sauce into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  9. Arrange the filled shells in the pan.
  10. Pour remaining sauce over the shells.
  11. Cover the pan with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  12. Remove the foil and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
  13. Bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes.
