Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine or water
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 8 ounces stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 slices crisp, crumbled bacon

Instructions

  1. Cook celery and green onions in butter until tender, but not brown. Blend in flour.
  2. Add stewed tomatoes, water, chicken bouillon cube, and white wine or water; cook and stir until slightly thickened.
  3. Reduce heat and cook slowly for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Garnish with crumbled bacon before serving.
