Ingredients

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup Wesson oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Mix together in a big bowl the self-rising flour, sugar, cocoa, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Melt the butter, oil, and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the liquid mixture and mix well.
  4. Add the beaten eggs, baking soda, and buttermilk; stir to combine.
  5. Add vanilla and mix everything together.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased, floured pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 30 to 40 minutes.
  8. While the cake is hot from the oven, pour frosting on it.
