Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package brown gravy mix (1 cup)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 (10 oz) package frozen peas and carrots
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups warm seasoned mashed potatoes

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet; season with salt.
  2. Blend in the brown gravy mix and water; simmer for a few minutes.
  3. Add basil leaves and frozen peas and carrots; cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Pour the beef mixture into a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  5. Fold grated Cheddar cheese into warm seasoned mashed potatoes.
  6. Spoon the mashed potatoes over the beef mixture in a ring pattern.
  7. Bake at 450°F for 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
