Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Karo (blue label) syrup
  • 1/3 cup Mazola oil
  • 1/2 cup black coffee
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Add raisins and stir well.
  3. Combine Karo syrup, Mazola, and black coffee in a separate bowl.
  4. Drop unbeaten eggs into the dry ingredients.
  5. Add liquids to the dry mixture and stir well.
  6. Pour batter into an 8 x 8-inch cake pan.
  7. Bake in a slow oven for about 45 minutes.
