  • 8 oz. sour cream or yogurt
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped ripe olives

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic in a skillet.
  2. Drain the excess fat from the skillet.
  3. Stir in 2 cups of water, 8 oz. tomato sauce, 2 Tbsp. chili powder, and 1/4 tsp. dried oregano.
  4. Pour half of the mixture into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  5. Top with half of the kidney beans and half of the crushed chips.
  6. Repeat the layering with the remaining mixture, beans, and chips.
  7. Cover the pan and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and top with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sliced green onions, chopped olives, shredded Cheddar, and sour cream or yogurt before serving.
