Ingredients

  • 1 cup seedless raisins
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup salad oil
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon all spice
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves

Instructions

  1. Bring raisins and water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. Add salad oil and allow to cool slightly.
  3. Stir in the beaten egg and sugar into the raisin mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and baking soda.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the raisin mixture and mix well.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool, then cut into bars and dust with powdered sugar.
