Tips & Substitutions

For a more vibrant flavor, consider marinating the round steak in a mixture of light soy sauce and ground ginger for 30 minutes before cooking. If you don't have Pace picante sauce, any medium salsa will work as a substitute. Feel free to add other vegetables like snap peas or carrots to enhance the dish's nutrition. This recipe is quite flexible, so you can also use leftover steak or chicken.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this flavorful stir-fry hot over a bed of steamed rice or alongside soft tortillas for a fun twist. It pairs beautifully with Vegetarian Egg Rolls as a side dish or a fresh cucumber salad to balance the flavors. For a complete meal experience, you might also consider a light dessert like fruit salad.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To reheat, simply warm in a skillet over medium heat until heated through, adding a splash of water if needed to loosen the sauce. Avoid microwaving as it may make the beef tough.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I adjust the spice level?

To adjust the spice level, you can add diced jalapeños or a few drops of hot sauce to the picante sauce mixture. Alternatively, if you prefer a milder dish, choose a mild salsa or reduce the amount of ginger and garlic. Experimenting with these elements allows you to customize the heat to your preference.
