Creamy, flavorful mashed potatoes with sour cream and cream cheese, topped with butter, perfect as a hearty side for family dinners and gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 5 lb. potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 (3 oz.) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, divided
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Place potatoes in a Dutch oven; cover with water. Cover and bring to a boil. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until very tender; drain well.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash potatoes.
  3. Add sour cream, cream cheese, 2 tablespoons butter, salt, onion salt, and pepper; beat until fluffy.
  4. Transfer to a greased 2-quart baking dish.
  5. Dot with the remaining butter.
  6. Bake, uncovered, at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes or until heated through.
