Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean hamburger
  • 1/2 cup cubed raw potatoes
  • 2/3 cup diced celery
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup raw rice
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes

Instructions

  1. Brown the hamburger and diced onions in a soup pot.
  2. Drain off all fat from the meat and vegetables.
  3. Add cubed raw potatoes, sliced carrots, diced celery, shredded cabbage, and tomato sauce to the pot.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Add raw rice, salt, thyme, beef bouillon cubes, cayenne pepper, and other seasonings.
  6. Cover and simmer for 50 minutes.
  7. Add frozen peas and cook for an additional 5 to 10 minutes.
  8. Serve in bowls and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
