Ingredients

  • 2 porterhouse steaks, cut 1 1/2 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 large clove garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Cut a pocket in one side of the meat.
  2. In a skillet, cook the onion and garlic in 1 tablespoon of butter.
  3. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  4. Stuff the pockets with the onion mixture and skewer closed.
  5. Combine the wine and soy sauce, and brush it on the steak.
  6. Broil the steak over coals until done.
  7. Cook the mushrooms in the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter until tender, then pour over the steak.
