Sweet and sour pork features tender meat combined with pineapple, peppers, and onions in a tangy, sweet, and savory sauce perfect for a flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. pork
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 sliced green pepper
  • 1/4 c. sliced onion
  • 2 1/2 c. pineapple chunks
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 c. vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Brown the pork and add water, then cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  2. Do not boil. Combine green pepper, onions, and pineapple chunks, reserving the syrup. Set aside.
  3. Combine brown sugar and cornstarch in a small bowl.
  4. Add pineapple syrup to the sugar and cornstarch mixture, then mix well.
  5. Add remaining ingredients, including the pineapple, onions, and green pepper.
  6. Cook until the sauce thickens.
  7. Add the pineapple, onion, and green pepper mixture to the pork and cook briefly.
