Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 2 2/3 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 (1 lb.) can pumpkin
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 2/3 cup chopped nuts
  • 2/3 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy.
  2. Stir in eggs, pumpkin, and water.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Blend in dry ingredients, except nuts and raisins.
  5. Add nuts and raisins; stir well.
  6. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
