Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups peeled, cored, and sliced Delicious apples
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Beat oil and sugar together until well combined.
  3. Add eggs and beat until the mixture is creamy.
  4. Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda.
  5. Stir the sifted dry ingredients into the batter.
  6. Add peeled, cored, and sliced apples, chopped walnuts, and raisins (if using), and stir to blend.
  7. Pour the batter into a buttered and floured 9-inch tube pan.
  8. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool before turning it out of the pan.
