Ingredients

  • 1 beef brisket (4 to 6 lb.)
  • 1/4 cup whiskey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • dash Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat to 1/4-inch thickness from the brisket.
  2. Place the brisket in a large plastic bag or glass baking dish.
  3. Combine whiskey, soy sauce, ketchup (if using), brown sugar, chopped onion, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and Worcestershire sauce in a measuring cup.
  4. Add water to the mixture to make a total of 2 cups and pour over the brisket.
  5. Cover tightly and refrigerate for 8 hours.
