Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Bring shortening, water, margarine, and cocoa to a boil on the stove.
  3. Pour the hot mixture over the flour and sugar mixture.
  4. Add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, baking soda, and salt.

  7. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes.
