Ingredients

  • 3 lb ground beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped green pepper
  • 4 cans hot chili beans
  • 3 pt tomato juice
  • dash paprika
  • dash red pepper
  • 4 Tbsp chili powder
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef, chopped onion, and chopped green pepper in a large kettle.
  2. Drain excess fat from the browned mixture.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. In the same kettle, mix hot chili beans, tomato juice, paprika, red pepper, and chili powder.
  5. Tie cloves and bay leaf in a piece of cheesecloth and add to the bean mixture.
  6. Add the browned beef, onion, and green pepper to the bean mixture.
  7. Mix all ingredients well.
  8. Simmer over medium heat for 1 hour, removing the cheesecloth with cloves and bay leaf before serving.
