  • pearl onions or 1 chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed tarragon
  • dash of thyme
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup

Instructions

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider marinating the chicken in the salt, pepper, and some of the minced herbs for a couple of hours before baking. If you don't have pearl onions, you can substitute with shallots or leeks. Adding a splash of white wine to the sauce can enhance the taste, similar to what you might find in Chicken Kiev With Sherry Sauce.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Three Star Chicken over a bed of rice or alongside roasted vegetables for a complete meal. A light salad can complement the dish nicely. This recipe pairs beautifully with Baked Cucumbers for a refreshing side, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To reheat, place the chicken in a baking dish covered with foil and warm it in the oven at 350°F for about 20 minutes, or until heated through. This helps retain moisture and flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen chicken for this recipe?

Yes, you can use frozen chicken breasts or thighs, but make sure to thaw them completely before seasoning and baking. This ensures even cooking and allows the flavors to penetrate the meat properly.

What can I substitute for cream of mushroom soup?

If you prefer a homemade option, you can create a simple cream sauce using butter, flour, milk, and sautéed mushrooms. This will give a similar creamy texture and flavor to the dish without using canned soup.

Is there a way to make this dish spicier?

Absolutely! You can add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the cream mixture before spreading it over the chicken. This will give the dish a nice kick while still balancing the other flavors.
