Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose or whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 bars large 4 oz. size milk chocolate candy
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Mix brown sugar, softened butter, egg yolk, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. Stir in flour and salt until the dough is formed.
  4. Press the dough evenly into a greased 13 x 9-inch oblong pan.
  5. Bake until very light brown, about 25 to 30 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately place separated pieces of chocolate candy on the crust.
  7. Let stand until the chocolate softens, then spread evenly over the crust.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  9. Cut into bars, about 2 x 1½ inches, while still warm.
