- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Mix brown sugar, softened butter, egg yolk, and vanilla until well combined.
- Stir in flour and salt until the dough is formed.
- Press the dough evenly into a greased 13 x 9-inch oblong pan.
- Bake until very light brown, about 25 to 30 minutes.
- Remove from oven and immediately place separated pieces of chocolate candy on the crust.
- Let stand until the chocolate softens, then spread evenly over the crust.

- Cut into bars, about 2 x 1½ inches, while still warm.
