Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/8 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour.
  2. Add salt and brown sugar to the sifted flour.
  3. Cut in margarine until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  4. Add beaten egg yolk and vanilla, then pack the mixture into a 9 x 9-inch square pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes.
  6. While warm, spread with melted semi-sweet chocolate.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
  8. Cool completely and cut into small squares.
