Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 2 tablespoons buttered bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheese
  • 2 cups cooked macaroni

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, lightly brown the chopped onions in butter.
  2. Stir in tomato soup, water, and 1/4 cup of grated cheese.
  3. Heat until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.
  4. Mix the sauce with cooked macaroni.
  5. Pour the mixture into a buttered 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheese and buttered bread crumbs on top.
  7. Bake in a 350°F oven for about 20 minutes or until nicely browned and bubbling.
