Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup crushed chips
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (No. 303) can tomatoes, drained and cut
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet.
  2. Add chili powder, garlic salt, black pepper, tomato sauce, drained tomatoes, and chopped bell pepper to the beef mixture.
  3. Grease a casserole dish.
  4. Sprinkle 1/2 cup crushed chips in the dish.
  5. Add half of the meat mixture over the chips.
  6. Sprinkle 1/2 cup grated cheese over the meat.
  7. Add the remaining crushed chips, then the rest of the meat mixture.
  8. Place whole chips over the top of the meat layer.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes.
  10. Sprinkle cheese over the chips and return to the oven to melt before serving.
