Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup onion
  • 1 prepared recipe Martha White Cornbread, crumbled (about 6 cups)
  • 4 slices bread, torn into small pieces (about 2 1/2 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 2 eggs, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Lightly grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish or pan.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet, then sauté celery and onion until tender, about 3 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine crumbled cornbread, cooked celery and onion, torn bread pieces, sage, and black pepper.
  4. Stir in chicken broth and beaten eggs, blending well.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
