Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) package macaroni
  • 1 bunch broccoli
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 (12 1/2 to 13 oz.) can tuna, drained

Instructions

  1. Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.
  2. In a covered 12-inch skillet, bring 1-inch of water to a boil and cook broccoli spears for 10 minutes or until tender; drain.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. In a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg; stir until blended.
  5. Gradually whisk in milk, cooking and stirring constantly until the mixture boils and thickens slightly.
  6. Stir in lemon juice.
  7. In a 12x8-inch baking pan, combine cooked macaroni, drained tuna, and the sauce; stir to coat.
  8. Arrange cooked broccoli on top of the mixture.
  9. Bake for 40 minutes or until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
  10. Serve warm.
