Ingredients

  • 2 c. chopped celery
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 6 c. cubed day old cornbread
  • 2 c. fresh bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp. dried sage
  • 1 Tbsp. poultry seasoning
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 c. chicken broth
  • 1 turkey (10 to 12 lb.)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, sauté chopped celery and onion in butter until tender.
  2. Place the sautéed vegetables in a large bowl with cubed cornbread, bread crumbs, dried sage, and poultry seasoning.
  3. In a separate bowl, lightly beat the eggs and mix with chicken broth.
  4. Combine the egg and broth mixture with the cornbread mixture, stirring gently to mix.
  5. Stuff the prepared mixture into the turkey cavity or transfer to a baking dish.
  6. Roast the turkey at 325°F (163°C) until cooked through, approximately 13-15 minutes per pound, or until a thermometer reads 165°F (74°C).
