Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2/3 cup butter, melted and divided
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine cocoa and baking soda.
  2. Blend in 1/3 cup melted butter.
  3. Add boiling water; stir just until well blended.
  4. Stir in sugar, eggs, and remaining butter.
  5. Add flour, vanilla extract, and salt.
  6. Stir in the pecans and chocolate chunks.
  7. Pour into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 to 40 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of the pan.
