Tips & Substitutions

For the best flavor, use fresh veal and ensure your butter is clarified to prevent burning. If you don't have veal, chicken or pork can be substituted, but adjust the cooking time accordingly. For a lighter version, consider using whole wheat bread crumbs and serving with a side of steamed vegetables.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the veal cutlets with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed green beans for a complete meal. A fresh arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette pairs beautifully, enhancing the dish's flavors. For a heartier option, try them alongside Dirty Brown Rice.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover veal cutlets in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 350°F until warmed through, about 10-15 minutes, to maintain their crispiness.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the veal cutlets up to the frying stage and store them in the refrigerator. When ready to serve, simply cook them in the pan and finish with the lemon butter sauce.

What can I substitute for butter in this recipe?

If you prefer a dairy-free option, you can use olive oil or a vegan butter alternative. However, keep in mind that the flavor will be slightly different but still delicious.

How can I tell when the veal is cooked properly?

The veal should be golden brown on the outside and reach an internal temperature of 145°F. A meat thermometer is the best way to ensure perfect doneness without drying it out.
