Ingredients

  • 2 cups seasoned croutons
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom pieces, drained
  • 1 1/2 lb. sausage
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup

Instructions

  1. Place croutons in a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Top with cheese and drained mushroom pieces.
  2. Brown sausage and chopped onion in a skillet. Drain excess fat and spread over cheese layer.
  3. In a bowl, beat eggs with 2 cups milk, salt, pepper, and dry mustard until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage and croutons in the pan.
  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Mix cream of mushroom soup with 1/2 cup milk and spread on top of the casserole before baking.
  7. Bake in a 325°F oven for approximately 60 minutes until set and golden.
