Winning Apple Cake

- In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 egg; mix until well blended. Set aside.
- In another bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups sugar, flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Add oil and 3 eggs to the dry ingredients and mix just until moistened.
- Fold in chopped apples and chopped nuts.
- Reserve 2 cups of batter for topping.
- Pour the remaining batter into a greased and floured 10-inch Bundt pan.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the batter in the pan.
- Carefully spoon the reserved batter over the cream cheese layer and lightly spread to cover.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50 to 55 minutes until a wooden pick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan.
- Cool thoroughly and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
