A hearty casserole combining tender turkey or chicken with mushrooms, cheese, and noodles, perfect for a comforting family meal with rich, savory flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 quart milk
  • 4 oz grated cheese
  • 2 small cans mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 2 1/2 cups cooked turkey or chicken, diced
  • 3 hard-boiled eggs
  • 1 large can chow mein noodles

Instructions

  1. Make a roux of flour and melted butter.
  2. Add milk and cook until thickened.
  3. Add cheese and remove from heat, stirring until cheese melts.
  4. Saute mushrooms and diced celery in 2 teaspoons butter.
  5. Add sautéed mushrooms and celery to the sauce.
  6. Stir in cooked, diced turkey or chicken and diced hard-boiled eggs.
  7. Serve on plates over the Chinese noodles.
  8. Garnish with slices of the third hard-boiled egg.
