Ingredients

  • 2 cups fruit
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground mace
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine fruit and 1/2 cup water.
  2. Simmer, covered, for 5 minutes or until fruit is tender.
  3. Stir in lemon juice.
  4. Mix 1/2 cup sugar with cornstarch; stir into fruit mixture.
  5. Cook and stir until thickened.
  6. Cool before serving.
