Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons soda dissolved in 1 1/2 cups applesauce
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Cream the margarine, brown sugar, and egg together.
  2. Add the vanilla, dissolved soda in applesauce, cinnamon, and cloves.
  3. Mix in chopped nuts and chopped dates.
  4. Stir in the flour until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a well-greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 35 minutes or until tested done.
