Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. boneless chuck, cut in 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1 can or 1 lb. tomatoes
  • 1 medium green pepper
  • 1 c. chopped onions
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 4 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the meat in margarine.
  2. Add chopped onions, chopped celery, sliced green pepper, canned tomatoes, and 1 cup water.
  3. Cover and simmer on low heat for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  4. Mix cornstarch with 1 cup water to make a slurry.
  5. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the stew.
  6. Cook until slightly thickened.
  7. Serve over rice.
