Ingredients

  • 1 lb. sweet sausage
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • garlic to taste
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 1 Tbsp. basil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
  • 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
  • 10 oz. lasagne noodles
  • 3 c. cream-style cottage cheese
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the sweet sausage and ground beef slowly in a skillet.
  2. Spoon off excess fat from the cooked meat.
  3. Add garlic, parsley flakes, basil, salt, tomato paste, and canned tomatoes to the meat.
  4. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to blend flavors.
  5. Cook lasagne noodles in boiling salted water until tender, then drain.
  6. Rinse cooked noodles in cold water and set aside.
  7. In a bowl, combine cottage cheese with eggs, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.
  8. Spread half of the cooked noodles in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
  9. Layer half of the cottage cheese mixture over the noodles.
  10. Add half of the shredded mozzarella cheese and half of the meat sauce over the layer.
  11. Repeat the layers with remaining noodles, cottage cheese mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce.
  12. Bake at 375°F until the lasagne is cooked through and bubbly.
  13. Garnish with triangles of mozzarella cheese before serving.
  14. Let stand 10 to 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
