Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream butter until smooth.
  2. Gradually add brown sugar and beat well.
  3. Add egg and mix thoroughly.
  4. Combine dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Fold dry ingredients into the butter mixture.
  6. Stir in vanilla and chopped nuts.
  7. Chill the dough for easier handling.
  8. Form into small balls and dip into granulated sugar.
  9. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet.
  10. Press down each ball with a greased or oiled fork.
  11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 12 minutes in the middle of the oven.
