Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1 pound frankfurters

Instructions

  1. Cook chopped onion in oil until tender.
  2. Stir in ketchup, chopped celery, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, prepared mustard, water, and salt.
  3. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes.
  4. Score frankfurters diagonally at 1-inch intervals.
  5. Add frankfurters to the sauce and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.
  6. Serve hot over toasted buns.
