Barbecue Pork Roast
Tender shredded pork infused with smoky barbecue flavors, sweet honey, tangy vinegar, and a touch of heat, perfect for casual gatherings or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup dry sherry ⓘ
- 2/3 cup honey ⓘ
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar ⓘ
- 1/4 cup soy sauce ⓘ
- 1/4 cup chopped onion ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce ⓘ
- dash of salt and pepper ⓘ
- 1 clove garlic ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 4 dashes hot sauce ⓘ
- 1 can tomato sauce ⓘ
- 5 to 6 pounds pork roast ⓘ
- barbecue sauce (homemade or store-bought) ⓘ
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Cook the pork roast in a crock-pot on low for 8 hours or in an oven at 300°F for 2 1/2 hours, wrapped well in foil if baked.
- Allow the cooked roast to cool, then shred the meat, removing fat and bones.
- Place the shredded pork in a baking pan, pour the sauce mixture over it, and mix well.
- Heat in the oven at 300°F for 30 minutes before serving.
