Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 c. bread crumbs
  • 1 med. onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1-1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. vinegar
  • dash of hot sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, beaten egg, salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup of tomato sauce in a large bowl.
  2. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a 10 x 6 x 2 inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix remaining 1/2 cup tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, vinegar, hot sauce, prepared mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the meatloaf.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour 15 minutes, basting occasionally with the sauce.
