Beef Mushroom Loaf

A hearty beef loaf combined with mushrooms and flavorful seasonings, topped with a sweet and tangy catsup glaze, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 (3 oz.) can chopped mushrooms
  • milk
  • 1 slightly beaten egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp. catsup
  • 1 Tbsp. light corn syrup

Instructions

  1. Drain the chopped mushrooms and reserve the liquid.
  2. Add enough milk to the mushroom liquid to make 1/2 cup.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the mushroom liquid, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, dry mustard, pepper, and chopped mushrooms.
  4. Mix lightly but thoroughly.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
  6. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 1 hour.
  7. Combine catsup and light corn syrup.
  8. Brush the mixture on the meat loaf and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
