Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. celery with leaves
  • 1 c. carrots
  • 1 c. potatoes, grated coarsely
  • 1 c. cabbage or green beans
  • 8 c. hot water
  • 2 c. cooked tomatoes
  • 1/2 c. quick barley
  • 4 tsp. instant beef bouillon
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 bay leaf or celery stalks

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in butter in a large pot.
  2. Add remaining ingredients to the pot.
  3. Simmer for one hour and stir occasionally.
