Tips & Substitutions
For a richer flavor, consider marinating the brisket in the soy sauce mixture overnight. If you don't have marjoram, dried oregano can be a suitable substitute. Ensure the vegetables are cut uniformly to promote even cooking. If using fresh garlic instead of powdered, adjust the amount to taste. You can also add sliced mushrooms for added depth, similar to those in the Chili Beef Potato Soup.
Serving Suggestions
Serve the roast with a side of buttered noodles or fluffy mashed potatoes for a comforting meal. It pairs beautifully with rice or hot biscuits. Consider adding a fresh salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced plate. This brisket is also excellent in sandwiches the next day, showcasing the flavors even further.
Storage & Reheating
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To reheat, gently warm in the oven at 325°F (160°C) until heated through, or use the microwave in short intervals to prevent drying out. Adding a splash of broth or water can help keep the brisket moist during reheating.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a different cut of beef for this recipe?
Yes, while brisket is traditional for its flavor and tenderness, you can substitute with chuck roast or round roast. Just keep in mind that cooking times may vary; ensure the meat is tender before serving.
What can I serve with brisket?
Brisket is versatile and pairs well with a variety of sides. Consider serving it with creamy mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh garden salad. It also goes great with classic American recipes like the Cream Cheese Beef Bake.
How do I know when the brisket is done?
The brisket is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 190°F (88°C) and is fork-tender. It should easily pull apart with a fork. If it's still tough, continue cooking and check every 30 minutes until tender.
