Tips & Substitutions

For extra flavor, marinate the beef slices in a mixture of vinegar and herbs for a few hours before preparing. If you don't have beef stock, you can use vegetable stock or even water with bouillon cubes as a substitute. Adjust the seasoning as needed, and feel free to add additional spices like thyme or rosemary for a different twist. This dish also works well with a variety of beef cuts.

Serving Suggestions

Serve your beef rolls with a side of mashed potatoes or spaetzle to soak up the delicious gravy. A fresh green salad or steamed vegetables can add a nice contrast to the rich flavors. This dish pairs beautifully with Aunt Vera's Beef Goulash for a hearty meal, or enjoy it with crusty bread to mop up the sauce.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover beef rolls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a saucepan with a little water or gravy over low heat until warmed through, or use a microwave, covered, to prevent drying out. Ensure they reach an internal temperature of 165°F before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make the gravy thicker?

To achieve a thicker gravy, you can add more flour mixed with cold water before adding it to the pan. Alternatively, cornstarch mixed with water can also work well. Stir continuously to avoid lumps and ensure a smooth consistency.
