Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef round steak
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 8 oz fresh mushrooms
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp beef bouillon granules
  • 1/2 cup evaporated skim milk

Instructions

  1. Remove excess fat from the beef and slice into thin strips.
  2. In a bowl, combine the beef with flour and paprika to coat evenly.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the coated beef, sliced onion, chopped garlic, pepper, and sliced mushrooms to the skillet.
  5. Cook over high heat, stirring occasionally, until browned, about 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in water and beef bouillon granules, stirring to dissolve.
  7. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  8. Add the evaporated skim milk to the skillet and stir well.
  9. Heat the mixture for an additional 3 to 5 minutes until hot.
  10. Serve the beef stroganoff over hot noodles or rice.
