- Brown the ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet, then drain excess fat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, soda, salt, cream corn, eggs, and milk.
- Pour half of the cornmeal mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the cornmeal layer.
- Add the cooked ground beef and chopped onion evenly over the cheese.
- Pour the remaining cornmeal mixture on top, spreading evenly.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 40 minutes or until golden brown.
