Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb ground elk or deer
  • 1 can mushrooms
  • milk
  • 3 Tbsp grated onion
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 large green peppers
  • 3 Tbsp catsup
  • 1/2 c Cheddar cheese
  • bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Drain the mushrooms and add milk to the mushroom liquid to make a total of 1/2 cup.
  2. Slice the drained mushrooms and combine them with ground meat, bread crumbs, grated onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and beaten egg to form the filling mixture.
  3. Remove the stems and seeds from the green peppers, then cut each into three 1-inch rings.
  4. Place the green pepper rings in a shallow baking dish and pack the meat mixture into the rings.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 35 minutes.
  6. Mix catsup and grated Cheddar cheese, then spoon over the baked patties.
  7. Continue baking for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
