Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 1 1/2 c. cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 onion, chopped fine
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • milk
  • 8 oz. sliced cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 c. ketchup

Instructions

  1. Mix together the ground beef and pork to blend the two meats.
  2. Add cracker crumbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, beaten eggs, salt, and pepper to taste.
  3. Blend all ingredients well and add milk to moisten.
  4. Shape the mixture into two loaves and place into two lightly greased pans.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour 30 minutes or until done.
  6. Remove meat loaves from the oven and carefully cut each loaf lengthwise from one end to the other.
  7. Remove the top of each loaf, place sliced cheddar cheese on each bottom loaf, and place the top back on like a sandwich.
  8. Return the meat loaves to the pans and baste or drizzle with ketchup.
  9. Bake for about 10 minutes to melt the cheese.
