Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef tips
  • 1 smoked pork hock
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 can beef broth
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 can beets, chopped
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 potatoes, cubed
  • 3 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 teaspoons dill seed
  • 1 tablespoon pickling spice
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 3/4 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Heat beef tips, smoked pork hock, water, beef broth, salt, and pepper for 1 1/2 hours.
  2. Debone the pork hock.
  3. Add beef, pork, onion, garlic, potatoes, and cabbage to the pot.
  4. Tie dill seed and pickling spice in cheesecloth and add to the soup.
  5. Simmer the soup for about 2 hours.
  6. Stir in red wine vinegar and remove the spice bag.
  7. Serve hot, topped with sour cream.
