Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 3 pounds boneless round or chuck steak
  • 1 can beer
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt, pepper, oil, and steak.
  2. Rub the flour mixture into the meat well.
  3. Brown the steak in a Dutch oven or kettle.
  4. Add beer, beef broth, chopped onions, garlic, bay leaf, and thyme.
  5. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer over low heat for 2 1/2 to 3 hours until tender.
