Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups plain flour
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 2/3 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a cookie sheet.
  3. Lightly spoon flour into a measuring cup and level off.
  4. Combine flour, sour cream, brown sugar, eggs, soda, butter, salt, baking powder, and vanilla in a large bowl.
  5. Blend at low speed until moistened.
  6. Beat for 1 minute on medium speed.
  7. By hand, stir in chopped dates and nuts.
  8. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  9. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool for 1 minute on the sheet.
  11. Remove cookies from sheet and frost if desired.
