Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 medium stalks celery, sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 small green pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 medium head cabbage
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sliced pimento
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cook and stir ground beef, celery, onion, and green pepper in a Dutch oven until vegetables are tender; drain.
  2. Stir in cabbage and water.
  3. Cover and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until cabbage is done (about 10 minutes).
  4. Stir in milk, cheese, flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  5. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
  6. Boil and stir for 1 minute.
  7. Garnish with sliced pimentos before serving.
